Coiled Rod Services
Coiled Rod is an innovation that exhibits many advantages over conventional sectional sucker rod. A single rod string with two connections one on the top and one on the bottom is spooled into the wellbore off of a reel. When the rod is removed from the wellbore it must be coiled and stored back on the same reel. Tierra alta can provide and operate specialized equipment that can install and remove coiled rod. Specifically a truck mounted X-celerator® can be deployed to service coiled rod applications in conjunction with an existing convetional service rig or a flush by unit.
Advantages of coiled rod in reciprocating and progressing cavity pumping applications are numerous. Elimination of intermediate rod couplings results in minimized rod and tubing wear resulting in reduced servicing expenses and associated downtime. Coupling failures are eliminated. Flow losses are significantly reduced in the pumping system resulting in less energy required to lift fluid to surface. Coiled rod can be installed and pulled much quicker (travel speeds up to 30 meters per minute) than sectional rod.
